Obituary

Friday Perry Todd
February 26, 1932 - January 5, 2010

Friday Perry Todd of Waco passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at his home. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 7, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Dr. Lynn Parks officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 8, at Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean, TX.

Friday was born February 26, 1932, in McLean, TX, the ninth and last child of Walter and Elizabeth Todd. He attended schools in Lefors, TX, and played football for the Pirates. He joined the Air Force in 1950 and served his country as an airplane mechanic until 1962. He married Arlean Jones on April 9, 1960, in Amarillo, TX, and they had one daughter, Cindy. After leaving the Air Force, he operated service stations in the Amarillo area. In 1979, he moved to Fritch, TX, to operate an auto parts store with his brother and to enjoy the fishing on nearby Lake Meredith. His life changed when he suffered a debilitating stroke at the age of 56. He showed great strength and courage during the years after his stroke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and former wife, Arlean, who provided tremendous help in caring for him after his stroke.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindy, and grand dog Colby of Waco; and nieces and nephews, Marvin Todd of White Deer, TX, Arthur James Dwyer and Jerry Dwyer of Canyon, TX , Walter Todd of Fredericksburg, TX, Carolyne Howe and Peggy Finney of Lefors, TX, and Josephine Sullivan and Elaine Baxter of Rio Linda, CA.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Effie Dawson Hilliard of Waco's Visiting Angels for her tender loving care, her reading from Scripture to comfort him, and the many beautiful prayers she prayed over Mr. Todd.

Honorary pallbearers are nephews, Marvin Todd, A.J. Dwyer, Jerry Dwyer, Walter Todd, brother-in-law, Henry Jones, and close friends, Ben Frits and Ned Kessler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX, 79174-0001, or First Baptist Church of Waco ESL Ministry, 500 Webster, Waco, TX 76706. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.wilkirsonhatchbailey.com.
